About Fran

Francesca Sene is a Hampshire based Arsenal fan who counts down the seconds to the next game day. She has always loved drawing portraits, so it only seemed natural to start drawing some of her favourite players in her free time.
Fran enjoys drawing footballers as it encourages us to see them as human beings with stories, and not just stats. She believes it is important to research the backgrounds of the players behind the headlines, and the hardships they have often endured to get to where they are today.

For her day job, Fran works outside with her twin sister running a local gardening business.

In her spare time, Francesca used to speak about Arsenal FC on her youtube channel 'Goalartzo'!, and she is also a singer and songwriter.

Besides spending most of her time gardening, she continues to create portraits of players and design new concepts for clothing regularly.

Art Background

Fran credits her drawing skills to her father, Michael Sene, a stage set designer (pictured).

Mike used to give Fran and her sister portrait drawing lessons from a really early age - mainly to keep them entertained!

He taught them how to draw each facial feature, like noses and eyes over countless afternoons, something which Fran adored. Fran's love of portraiture has only grown over the years and she has dedicated thousands of hours towards honing her techniques since this time.

A highlight of every portrait is still sharing it with her Dad when it's finished!

Art For A Cause

Fran speaks up about mental health as much as she can after recovering from a decade-long battle with depression, OCD, ADHD, anxiety and eating disorders. Sobriety helped her find the confidence to start her own business, and she wants to reassure others that it's okay to talk about these difficult things.

As her business develops, she wants to raise funds for mental health charities like MIND, CALM, BEAT, The Arsenal Foundation and more.

The Team

Fran's Football Art is a one-man-band, run by artist, designer and founder Francesca Sene.

Community Aims

Fran's aim is to make art her full time career. She hopes to one day make a profit large enough to be able to send significant proceeds to charities such as Gooners vs Cancer, the Arsenal Foundation and mental health charities such as MIND.

She also hope to spread a passion for fine art amongst a younger audience, and make art 'cool'!

How it's Made

Francesca draws the players by hand, scans her artwork to turn them into HD digital files, and edits the art into designs using PhotoScape editing software. The art and design process for each player graphic takes between 20-40 hours.

Sustainability

Whenever Fran releases merch, she makes sure all products and clothing are as environmentally-friendly as possible. Past clothes include FairShare AWDIS hoodies, 100% Salvage recycled T-Shirts by Continental Clothing, and Organic Vegan sweatshirts from Stanley/Stella as the base.
